
The Embassy of Lithuania hosted an annual meeting with Lithuanian honorary consuls in Canada (BC, AB, ON, QC) on February 25th.

On 11 January, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had a telephone conversation with his Canadian counterpart François-Philippe Champagne. The Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral cooperation, regional security issues, the situation in Belarus, and possibilities of support for democratic initiatives.

On 11 December, after taking the oath of office at the Seimas (Parliament), the incoming new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, says that Lithuania’s foreign policy must continue to be based on the principle of national consensus, while maintaining our strategic geopolitical attitudes. However, we also need new instruments, increased activity and a strengthened diplomatic service in order to be able to respond to the new challenges faced by the world today and to better defend Lithuania’s national interest.

On 16 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs François-Philippe Champagne in Vilnius. The Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, and security policy, the state of play in transatlantic relations, as well as the situation in Belarus and Ukraine.

Foreign ministers Linas Linkevičius of Lithuania, Edgars Rinkēvičs of Latvia, Urmas Reinsalu of Estonia and François-Philippe Champagne of Canada met jointly today in Vilnius for the first time.
